Guest author Kevin Alexander of the brilliant "On Repeat Records" newsletter joins Chart Chat to discuss "Midlife Crisis," a track many consider to be Faith No More's most "epic" song
I’m so glad this piece exists. FNM is too often overlooked (not by me though) when it comes to discussing alternative music from the 80s/90s. It makes sense that some people neglect them because they are one band you cannot pigeon hole into a sound or style. This makes people (and critics) uncomfortable but it makes fans of the band ecstatic!
I saw FNM a few times, including once with Ice Cube at NYC’s Roseland Ballroom and needless to say, it was life changing. Thanks again for this piece!
Awsm review! Midlife Crisis is a masterpiece. Maybe FNM's best song considering what the band was willing to sacrifice musically to reach a broader audience.
This was a blast to put together. Thank you again for having me!
Great write-up Kevin! I also love the song "A Small Victory" from this album. (In fact, that's probably my answer for "favorite Faith No More song.")
Thank you, Mark! 'A Small Victory' is a fantastic song, and one of my faves as well!
Yeah I think that's the best on the album.

Thank you, Rob! I really appreciate that. I never got to see them live. We had tickets for a show, only to have it canceled at the last minute.
Yes, this is FNM's best song. It's so so SO good! The album might be a top 10 or top 20 album for me, too.
So,so good!
