Roland Orzabal is a genius. I've been saying it for years. Break It Down Again is just one of so many. Right now Woman In Chains is possibly my favourite song of all time. The recent live cinema event was phenomenal. There's a mini review on my page
I saw them live in 2017 and it was amazing! They haven't lost anything with age and they put on a tremendous show (as opposed to tour mates Hall & Oates, who struggled mightily, in my opinion).
I haven't been able to see this movie but I'm glad to hear it was great!
Songs From the Big Chair is incredible, front to back, but my absolute favorite song on the album, or any of their albums, is “The Working Hour” which should have been one of their biggest hits despite never being released as a single. Literally every second of that song is a mind-blowing masterpiece.
I would absolutely agree!!! I’ve found The Working Hour running through my head often over the past couple of months since I got my record player out and have played Songs From the Big Chair. It’s one of my all time favorites! Last year at some point, my youngest son (13) started playing either Everybody Wants to Rule the World or Head Over Heels on the way to school (my kids get to choose music to play on the way to school, and I get the ride home). He heard the songs on Fortnite! Hahaha! He was quite impressed when I pulled out the vinyl a couple of months ago.
I had to go check the discography because I could have sworn The Hurting was after Songs From the Big Chair, but nope! That was just the order I heard them in. Great stuff on The Hurting, but Songs From the Big Chair is solid from start to finish. I agree with your take on Sowing the Seeds - liked the song, but the whole album wasn’t sticky 😂 But, Break it Down Again is phenomenal!! I’ve had to play that one a few times recently because playing Songs From the Big Chair reminded me of how great Break it Down Again was.
"Break it Down Again" is one of my favorite Tears for Fears songs. It's got a nice build to a strong climax. I've put this one on playlists ever since then.
Matthew Sweet's "Ugly Truth" was an even bigger smash for me that year! I have it in my Top Ten. I always preferred the "Ugly Truth Rock" version on the album more than the original - which is still great but the rock version really has the right energy to go along with the lyrics.

I hadn’t heard ‘Break It Down Again’ before, but it’s fantastic! Much better than ‘Sowing the Seeds’
